Corsica

When it rains it pours in Corsica! More coffee while waiting for it to stop. Corsica  seems to be quite harsh terrain, with ancient villages clinging to the hillsides.
Some are falling down, and some are being restored for tourists. Where we are now, Bonifacio, has a nice feel to it, but has hordes of tourists walking through the old walled city, high above the small port, a marina filled with beautiful boats.
We talked today to a young man on a magnificent big yacht. He said it was the last America's Cup contender built by Sir Thomas Lipton, of tea fame. Absolutely beautiful lines, in perfect condition, permanent crew of 6-9, up to 20 for races! Now owned by a Brazilian.
I have included some photos of other boats that I thought Charlie the birthday boy would like. They are HUGE, and go very fast.
I am sure you will have a great day Charlie, Happy Birthday!
Yesterday was hot, but we had read about a number of ancient stone menhirs (Stonehenge), so thought we should visit one. Parked the car on the windy road, and followed the home-made sign. We walked and walked, and walked and walked in the glaring hot sun. Just when we were about to give up, there they were- big stones! They are said to have been placed there 4000 years ago, but I always find them a bit underwhelming.
