Biarritz

We travelled by normal train and then byTGV yesterday, like moving from economy to business class, the smoothness of the train and general comfort. There is a dining car on the TGV, and we had an interesting conversation with a man who works for the EU bureaucracy. 

Biarritz is quite a glamorous town, with good beaches and big surf today. Beautiful sunny weather, and great shops. Lots of bored men waiting dutifully outside!

We picked up a brand new hire car this afternoon- automatic and GPS- oh the relief, France is a safer place now! and have driven to St Jean de Luz, a charming old fishing port.
